The Taskforce Protocol

The Taskforce is a collaborative program wherein members seek to leapfrog the body of knowledge to create new and more competitive capabilities that can be applied in their companies. Sometimes this results in an intense push for more disclosure of information that will help each and every member, but no one is obliged to reveal trade secrets. Respect for the integrity of everyone's unique proprietary interests is paramount new knowledge and corporate value recognition applications are discovered and developed.

As a member and willing participant in the Taskforce activities, you accept the obligation to not reveal the content of the Taskforce proceedings to any 3rd party without permission from the Center for Advanced Technologies. This restriction includes distribution of presentation materials. Distribution requests are usually granted, but to make them freely available outside the Taskforce's aegis is to devalue and disrespect the unique work of the Taskforce members. It is a breach of protocol that may result in loss of all privileges and rights to the Taskforce work products. The Center (as managing partner of the Taskforce) is similarly obliged to acquire the consent of the originator(s) prior to any release or use of their contributions to the collaborative process or work products.

Further, respect for our policy of non-attribution as a measure designed to encourage more open exchange and expression of opinion. We do not want to expose anyone to an interpretation of a spontaneous remark that could lead to even a slight public or professional backlash on the speaker or Taskforce. But, absent this level of protection, the Taskforce will never be able to get into some of the more intimated details and opinions of the participants - we would be locked into the "plain vanilla" publicly-packaged statements characteristic to the typical "meet n greet" organization - again diminishing the value of the Taskforce experience. 8/5/08

MEMBER COMMITMENTS

  1. To create the trust where people can and will offer insights into their processes, ideas and vision to create the leverage of the consortium for accelerated innovation. (More disclosure than for the typical meet & greet forum.)
  2. To accept the collaborative value proposition and be active in taking initiatives and providing guidance and direction to the program; or wait until such time as you can find the Taskforce proposition supportable.
  3. To your best ability, keep your commitments so that others may benefit from your work; but not hesitate to excuse oneself if urgent issues arise that pre-empt prior plans.
  4. To recognize that intellectual inputs are highly valued, but must be complemented by some financial commitment to the program and the efforts of the Teams' activities.
  5. To NOT participate if competitive intelligence is your purpose.
  6. To NOT use the Taskforce events as a sales opportunity.

As the Taskforce is a member-led and member-funded operation, membership is based on each member's:

  • Capabilities and willingness to participate in collaborative work
  • Integrity and respect for the data, the process and each colleague
  • Strong business case for the member's company
  • Unique set of program inputs and outputs
  • Commitment to the program and each and every other member
